How it's built — Beaver's Bumpy Bridgev1.0 · 2026-10-25
Method
- Rule simulation. A state-transition engine for a river-crossing logic puzzle checks for accidents; Dijkstra shortest-cost search computes best scores, hints and full solutions
- State = positions of animals and items, beaver position, bridge repair, berries used, chameleon color, and the bear’s pre-wake clock. 12 rounds (8 woodland + 4 wild), 1–2 seats, load limits of 4 and 5 in rounds 11–12, crossing minutes in round 12
- No training · runs in the browser (no server) · JavaScript ES modules, Node.js test runner · engine animal-bridge-v3
- No LLM. The 3 maps and 2 character sheets are still images made with an image-generation AI (ImageGen) using the earlier art as style reference; they play no part in the rules
Data
- 12 puzzle rule sets · hand-written · original
- Food-chain basis: 6 public pages from zoos and a conservation charity (see Sources) · checked 2026-10-24 · facts only, no text or images copied
- The beaver’s escort, instant accident check, load units, crossing minutes and woodland special abilities (skunk guard, chameleon signal, etc.) are set values
- Stored user input: only per-round move history and best scores, in this browser’s localStorage. Nothing sent to a server; no personal data
Validation
- Conditions: Node.js test runner, all 12 rounds, 2026-10-25
- 57 tests pass: each known route’s cost equals the searched minimum; every reachable state passes an independent safety check; a hint from every point of the solution leads to completion; save migration; missing English strings
- Round 12’s fastest time is cross-checked by Bellman-Ford over all reachable states, independent of Dijkstra
- Best scores (searched): R1 7 · R2 5 · R3 7 · R4 6 · R5 6 · R6 5 · R7 5 · R8 8 · R9 3 · R10 5 · R11 7 moves · R12 15 min (5 moves)
- Train/test split: not applicable (no training). No accuracy metric
Scope
- Holds only within this game’s 12 rule sets: 3–5 animals or items per round, 1–2 seats, load up to 5
- Does not predict or explain real animal behavior, hunting odds or bridge loads
